Tianna & Jamila: A Surprise Wedding, a Surprise Proposal & a Gentle Love
A surprise ceremony. A surprise proposal. A whole lot of love. And two people choosing each other in front of the people who mean the most to them.
Their Pride celebration at Montlaurel was joyful, emotional, and completely unexpected, proving that sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones you never see coming.
A Love That Feels Gentle
When Tianna was asked what Jamila had brought into her life, her answer was incredibly heartfelt.
“Jam has introduced me to a gentle love.”
She described a relationship built on encouragement, growth, and choosing kindness. Jamila has pushed Tianna to become a better person and opened her eyes to the kinder side of the world.
It wasn't just about finding someone to love.
It was about finding someone who inspires you to love differently, live differently, and become a better version of yourself.
Tianna described dedicating herself to their life together and to the rest of their existence side by side.
That kind of commitment is something worth celebrating.
When the Ceremony Was a Surprise
Tianna had one very special secret planned for their Pride celebration.
The ceremony was going to be a surprise.
Rather than telling Jamila exactly what was coming, Tianna let the day unfold until the moment arrived. What started as a celebration became something much more meaningful when Jamila realized they weren't simply there to enjoy the day.
They were there to choose each other.
Officially.
In front of their loved ones.
And then came another surprise.
She Proposed!
As if a surprise commitment ceremony wasn't enough, Tianna had one more moment up her sleeve.
She proposed to Jamila during the event.
Yes, the person who thought she was simply attending a celebration suddenly found herself being asked to spend forever with the person she loves.
It's hard to imagine a more perfect Pride celebration.
The surprise proposal added another layer of meaning to a day that was already about commitment, love, and choosing your person.
Choosing Your Forever Person
When asked why this celebration was meaningful to her, Tianna said:
“It means I've chosen my forever person officially and she knows I've chosen her too.”
For better or worse.
Through all of life's seasons.
Tianna shared that she would do whatever it takes to see Jamila smile.
And that sentiment seemed to capture the heart of their entire day.
Marriage isn't just about one beautiful ceremony. It's about the promise behind it. It's about knowing that you're choosing someone not only for the easy days, but for all of them.
When the Sky Knew First
On their very first date, Tianna and Jamila went up to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah.
And when they looked up, their names appeared in the clouds.
Their ceremony officiant described it beautifully:
“The sky does that maybe once in a person's whole life, if ever. And it did it for you, on day one — as if the world had already made up its mind about the two of you before you'd even said it out loud.”
A Pride Celebration Full of Heart
Celebrating Tianna and Jamila during Pride made their day even more meaningful.
Pride is about being able to live openly, love openly, and celebrate relationships without having to make them smaller for anyone else.
For these two, their celebration was a joyful declaration of love and commitment.
It was a chance to say, this is my person.
And then, in a wonderfully unexpected twist, to ask, will you choose me, too?
Cake, Dancing & Celebrating All Night
Of course, no wedding celebration would be complete without a little cake and a lot of dancing.
After the surprises, the vows, and the proposal, Tianna and Jamila got to simply enjoy the moment. They cut their cake, celebrated with their loved ones, and danced the night away.
It was the perfect way to end a day that was full of unexpected moments and big feelings.
Sometimes the best wedding days are the ones where you can stop worrying about what's supposed to happen next and just enjoy being together. For Tianna and Jamila, that meant celebrating their love, laughing with their favorite people, and dancing their way into whatever comes next.
The Kind of Surprise You'll Never Forget
There are plenty of things that make a wedding memorable.
Beautiful flowers. A gorgeous venue. Incredible photographs. Great music.
But sometimes, it's the story behind the day that stays with you.
For Tianna and Jamila, it was the surprise.
The surprise ceremony.
The surprise proposal.
The look on Jamila's face.
And the knowledge that they were beginning another chapter of their life together surrounded by love and support.
Their Pride celebration at Montlaurel was a beautiful reminder that your wedding doesn't have to follow a script.
It can be a surprise.
It can be a proposal.
It can be a celebration of the gentle love you've found in one another.
Most importantly, it can be completely and unapologetically yours.
At Montlaurel, we love seeing couples create wedding days that feel completely their own. Tianna and Jamila’s celebration was the perfect example. It was unexpected, heartfelt, joyful, and filled with the kind of moments they’ll remember for years to come.
From a surprise ceremony to a surprise proposal, cutting the cake, and dancing the night away, their Pride celebration was about one simple thing: choosing each other.
We’re so honored that Montlaurel could be part of such a meaningful chapter in their story, and we hope their day reminds other couples that there is no right way to celebrate your love.
Your wedding can be whatever you want it to be. A little unexpected, a lot of fun, and completely yours.
