Steff & Sierra: A Wedding Day That Was Completely Theirs

“We’re gross and gay.” — Steff & Sierra

Honestly, we couldn’t think of a better way to start this story.

Steff and Sierra’s wedding day at Montlaurel was joyful, unapologetically queer, a little goofy, and completely, wonderfully them. It wasn’t about following a traditional wedding script. It wasn’t about making everyone else happy. It was about two people who know exactly who they are, who know they are soulmates, and who wanted a day that belonged entirely to them.

And that is exactly what they created.

A Wedding Day That Was Just for Them

Steff and Sierra’s technical wedding date is in November, when they will legally become married. But this celebration was something different.

They wanted to do things their way.

When asked why they wanted to have their free wedding day during Pride, their answer was simple and incredibly meaningful. It was their first Pride after being out, and they wanted to celebrate their relationship surrounded by the people who supported them, loved them, and celebrated their queerness.

Most importantly, they wanted something that was specifically theirs.

Something no one else could alter, taint, or control.

So they came to Montlaurel and made a wedding day that felt like them.

Jeans, Matching Shirts & Pink Bouquets

There was no pressure to dress a certain way. No elaborate gowns or uncomfortable formalwear. No worrying about whether everything looked traditional enough.

Instead, Steff and Sierra showed up in jeans and matching shirts.

And it was perfect.

Their outfits felt effortless and playful, just like the rest of the day. They looked comfortable. They looked happy. They looked like two people who were completely themselves.

And then there were the flowers.

Pretty pink bouquets added the perfect pop of romance to their casual wedding day. The combination of jeans, matching shirts, and soft pink florals was a little unexpected, a little sweet, and entirely charming.

It was a reminder that there really isn't one right way to get married.

Your wedding can look however you want it to look.

Soulmates, Plain and Simple

When asked how they would describe their relationship, Steff and Sierra didn't need a long answer.

“We are soulmates.”

Sometimes the simplest description says everything.

Throughout the day, their connection was obvious. There was laughter, affection, happy tears, and plenty of moments that felt completely natural. They weren't performing a version of themselves for the camera or for their guests.

They were just Steff and Sierra.

Two people celebrating the fact that they found each other.

A First Dance, Cake & Lots of Joy

Of course, there were still some of those classic wedding moments.

They cut their cake together.

They shared a first dance.

They celebrated with their favorite people.

But even these traditional pieces felt different because they weren't being done simply because that's what you're supposed to do at a wedding. They were there because Steff and Sierra wanted them.

Their first dance wasn't about putting on a show. Their cake cutting wasn't about creating the perfect photograph. These moments were simply opportunities to pause, look at each other, and celebrate.

And that's what made the whole day so special.

A Wedding That Felt Like Pride

There was something especially meaningful about celebrating Steff and Sierra during Pride.

For them, this was their first Pride after being out. It wasn't just another month on the calendar. It represented freedom, visibility, community, and the ability to celebrate their relationship openly.

Their wedding day became part of that celebration.

There was something beautiful about watching two people take ownership of their love story and create a day that reflected exactly who they are.

No expectations.

No trying to make the day fit someone else's idea of what a wedding should be.

Just love, laughter, matching shirts, pink flowers, cake, dancing, and a whole lot of queer joy.

Your Wedding Can Be Whatever You Want It to Be

One of our favorite things about weddings at Montlaurel is seeing couples make the day their own.

Maybe that means a traditional ceremony with all the classic details.

Maybe it means an intimate elopement with just the two of you.

Maybe it means jeans and matching shirts, pink bouquets, cake, a first dance, and celebrating your love during Pride.

There is no formula.

Your wedding should feel like you.

Steff and Sierra reminded us exactly why that matters.

Their day wasn't about checking every box or meeting someone else's expectations. It was about creating one beautiful, joyful memory that belonged entirely to them.

And we're so honored that Montlaurel got to be the place where they did it.

Because at the end of the day, the best weddings aren't necessarily the biggest, fanciest, or most traditional.

They're the ones where you look around and think:

This feels like us.

And for Steff and Sierra, it absolutely did.

At Montlaurel, we believe your wedding should feel like you. It doesn't have to follow a formula, fit a tradition, or meet anyone else's expectations. It can be intimate, colorful, playful, laid-back, wildly romantic, or all of the above.

For Steff and Sierra, it was jeans, matching shirts, pink flowers, cake, dancing, laughter, and a whole lot of love. Most importantly, it was a day that belonged entirely to them.

We're so grateful they chose Montlaurel as the place to celebrate their love, their first Pride as an out couple, and the freedom to create something completely their own.

Because your love story is yours. Your wedding should be, too.

Ready to celebrate your way? We'd love to help you create a wedding day that feels unmistakably like you at Montlaurel.
